EDWARDS, Sir Thomas Nathaniel
- Born: 14 Oct 1690
- Marriage: DOWNING, Sarah Isabella Mar 1714
- Died: 2 Nov 1781, Harford CT, at age 91
Noted events in his life were:
• Notes about life. Sir Thomas's father-in-law was *SIR GEORGE THOMAS DOWNING M.P., who was keeper of the Palace at Whitehall and the first resident of Number 10 Downing Street in London, the present-day home of the British Prime Ministers. At the beginning of the Revolutionary War, SIR THOMAS, although very old, was active in supporting the English government and became personally responsible for goods bought in New York for the British Army. At about that time he died, and Robert Edwards administered the estate.
• Notes about life. Since some of Sir Thomas's children were born in Wales and some in the US, it appears they spent a significant amount of time in England. It is not contradictory to William being the first Edwards to come to the US in 1636.
Thomas married Sarah Isabella DOWNING in Mar 1714. (Sarah Isabella DOWNING was born in 1692 and died in 1793 in Edwards Hall.)
